Winter Has Arrived

Yesterday when I took my son to school we were pelted with tiny ice chunks. Throughout the day the weather alternated between rain, sleet and snow. As the sun went down the temperature dropped and it started to really snow. And it started accumulating. We woke up this morning to about half a foot of snow and the first snow day of the school year. We will be working at making an Origami Magic Ball out of brown craft wrapping paper (The legal-sized paper version didn't work last night, too many tiny folds!).

The sun is out now and it doesn't feel very cold outside, so I'm not sure how much of the white stuff will be left by the end of the day. For now I'm busy taking Cooper outside every few minutes to play and potty. That's a never ending situation because he LOVES to eat snow and then all of that water needs to come back out!

  1. Goodness, it is sunny and snow free here! I'm always amazed at the differences in weather, even across the Midwest.

  3. Wow, we don't have any snow here at all, I can't believe how different it is there. Beautiful pictures! Cooper looks so cute. Clancy loves the snow too, I love how dogs get so excited in it.

  4. It's so beautiful! Your snaps here are worthy of being greeting cards! Now, mind you, I wouldn't want to drive in it or shovel it...but it's gorgeous. LOVE the snaps of Cooper. What a character :-)

  5. I love the photos of Cooper in the snow. Our dog is not a fan of the snow at all.

  6. Brimful - My parents live about 20 miles away and got less than an inch of snow, so it was very spotty here!

    Karen - Thanks!

Julie - The front yard is spiderwebbed with dog trails. Cooper has been a snow fool today!

Pierce - As far as snow storms go, this one is very pretty. Cooper is having a blast today!

  7. Happy First Day of Snow Marked by Beautiful Origami Ball-Making! (Watched the viedo. How fun!) Our doggiepie, Jane, too, loves the snow, that of which we don't have any yet, so, on cold days, she been barking at the sky --followed, so far, by a BIG, looong wait!

    Enjoy the white stuffly yours,

  8. Gorgeous photos! We got a sprinkling of snow, but nothing to stick on the ground. I wanted a good inch or more so I could take my son out to play in it for the first time this season.

  11. Winter wonderland anyone? My gosh your place looks amazing with all that snow! *runs off to pack up and head your way asap*

We had some snow last night as well, not much, only about an inch (maybe not even as much) but everything was so beautiful this morning being all covered in white.

  12. SparkleFarkle - We had a great time today! The window was Cooper's favorite spot as it started snowing yesterday. :)

Christine - I remember playing with the kids when they were little. So much fun!

Staci - It was pure snow here by 6 PM. We did have a snow day!

irishoma - Thanks! I'm sure the snow will be coming your way soon!

Estrella - It's not supposed to be very warm for the next few days, so it should stick around for awhile. See you soon! :-)

  13. Janel, I am AMAZED at all that snow! I haven't been paying attention to the weather outside of the St. Louis area, so I'm really surprised. So glad you took photos to share with us! And look at sweet Coop out in the snow. I have no idea what Vern will be like in the snow! This is our first winter with him! :)

  15. You know I love all that snow and the photos of Coop! Charlee used to eat snow....he just loved the stuff and would roll around in it. My favorite memory of him was when I first got him as a pup and we had a ton of snow in Mass. (2ft or more) and he went out to potty and instead of using the shoveled path, he jumped off the terrace in the backyard and disappeared beneath the snow and all you saw was the snow collapsing behind him as he tunneled through the stuff. hilarious.

  16. awww, you have more snow than us. Now i'm jealous. Does cooper get a snow bears? Cuz Tula does. She just runs around and sniffs the snow and it all just accumulates on her beard. The other two dogs hate the snow and it's always a challenge to get them outside one winter hits

  17. It's beginning to look like Christmas at your house!

Our weather is turning colder - but still none of the white stuff in our forecast. I love the Cooper photos! My labs enjoy playing in the snow as well.
